MODArts Dance Collective (MADC) is elated to announce its sixth annual dance festival, Collective Thread, on March 6-7 12 PM & 11-13, 2021 7:30 PM via Zoom. The purpose of Collective Thread is to provide a voice and a platform for artistic self-impression to those women/womxn identifying artists of underrepresented ethnic groups within the medium of dance. The goal of Collective Thread is to instill artists with the necessary tools to take on leadership roles in an effort to increase diversity, inclusion, and gender equality in the dance field.

The festival will kick off with What Fuels You & Your Creative Process, a FREE round table discussion with some of this year's Collective Thread presenting artists sharing their creative process and how they pour into themselves through self-care practices to better navigate all aspects of their lives on Saturday, March 6 at 12 PM EST via Zoom Webinar. Click here to register.

RESPITE: a FREE health & wellness event for BIPOC womxn and girls will cultivate a healing and therapeutic space through affirmation, Mobility (low impact exercises that create calm and reduce stress while improving range of motion, flexibility, and muscle recovery), breath work, & meditation on Sunday, March 7 at 12 PM EST via Zoom. Click here to register.

The following weekend, March 11-13 at 7:30 PM EST via Zoom Webinar, will be a different evening program of six unique & gifted artists through the medium of concert dance & dance film.

Collective Thread was made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
